Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College is a full-time public ordinary institution of higher learning approved by Chongqing Municipal People's Government and registered by Ministry of Education. CQIPC adheres to the socialism-oriented guideline for education and aims to cultivate talents with good moral character and competence. The orientation of the college is to cultivate applied, compound, innovative, high-quality and high-skilled talents with good moral qualities, courage to explore and innovate, employability and entrepreneurial ability in the areas of equipment manufacturing, automotive, electronic information, and modern service industries. It is one of the first 28 national model tertiary colleges in China and also one of the first industry-education integration project schools initiated by National Development and Reform Commission. In 2017, it ranked first in Southwest China in the competitiveness ranking of Chinese higher vocational colleges. CQIPC, formerly known as the Chongqing Machinery Manufacturing School, was established in 1956 by the former National Machinery Industry Ministry. In 2000, Chongqing Machinery Manufacturing School and Chongqing Mechanical Workers University merged into Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College. In 2006, it became one of the first 28 national model tertiary colleges in China. In 2010, the college moved from Yuanjiagang, Jiulongpo District to the new campus in Konggang, Yubei District. (No.1000 Taoyuan Avenue, 1.5 km from Jiangbei International Airport). CQIPC covers an area of 1287.8 acres and a floor area of 324,000 square meters. There are 739 faculty members, 591 full-time teachers, 65 teachers of senior level, 224 teachers of secondary senior level and 476 double-position teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 358 of them have a master's degree or above, including 55 doctors. There are 10 departments, including Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Technology, Information Engineering, Finance and Economics, constructional engineering and art designs, Management and Aviation Services, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering, Marxism (Teaching Research department of Ideology and Political Theory Course) and Liberal Study department. It has over 50 set specialties. (Sports Department). And it has 53 specialties, including 9 nation-level and 14 municipal-level specialties. Currently CQIPC has approximately 13000 students from all over China. The college vigorously promotes cooperation such as school and enterprise, school and geo-economics, school and school and Chinese-foreign cooperation in running school, educating people, employment and development. It also strives to cultivate a team of teachers and professional talents with an international perspective and international standards. It builds a win-win management platform for cooperative education between industry and college and has established long-term cooperation relationships with more than 260 enterprises including Chongqing Chang'an Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., Chongqing Changjiang Shipping Group, Chongqing Airport Group Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. The college has built six national–level advanced practice bases, including four vocational education training bases (centers) supported by the central government. The college has also built 8 municipal training bases, including Chongqing equipment manufacturing industry training base in which the Chongqing municipal people’s government invested 110 million yuan, and 12 nation-level and municipal sharing public training platforms. The practicality, openness and professionalism of the teaching process have been achieved and it has become a training and skill identification base for high-quality and high-skilled personnel. CQIPC conducts international exchanges and cooperation in all aspects, multi-levels, diversification, and wide areas. More than 150 international cooperation projects have been conducted with more than 30 universities of applied sciences, vocational colleges and enterprises in Australia, Germany, Russia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Thailand and Japan. In 2016, the college established the first overseas “Luban Workshop” in Chongqing’s vocational education field. More than 300 Academic leaders and backbone teachers were sent to Australia, Germany, the United States, Singapore, Taiwan and other countries and regions for training. More than 140 teachers have obtained 7 kinds of international qualification certificates from Australia, Germany and other countries. By doing so, a team of teachers with an international perspective and international standards was successfully fostered. There are more than 300 students have been dispatched to different countries and regions for short-term visit, long-term exchanges, paid internships and degree study, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Malaysia, and Taiwan. These activities have largely broadened students’ international perspectives and improved their educational level and employability. The establishment of international standards for running the school has attracted more than 90 overseas students to pursue further education. For two consecutive years, CQIPC has won the second prize for the Promotion of the Internationalization Award for public colleges and universities in Chongqing, and it ranked first among the vocational colleges in Chongqing. It has become the governing units of the International Exchange Branch on Vocational and Technical Education of China Education Association for International Exchange and the deputy agent unit of Chongqing International Cooperation Association for Higher Vocational Education. CQIPC has achieved fruitful results. Over the past 61 years since its establishment, it has cultivated more than 120,000 professionals of various types for the country. In the past three years, the initial employment rate of graduates has remained above 98%, ranking high in the colleges and universities in Chongqing. CQIPC has won 3 National Teaching Achievement Awards, 4 first prizes for Teaching Achievements in Chongqing, 6 second prizes, and 2 third prizes; 1 national teaching Team and 7 excellent teaching teams in Chongqing. It also has won 5 national top-quality courses and 24 municipal excellent resource courses. In the past three years, it has won 70 National Vocational Student Skills Competition Awards, including 19 first prizes, and won 85 awards in the Chongqing Skills Competition, including 22 first prizes; and won the first prize of the National Vocational School Competition for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
